Experience Makes the Difference
Jon Sorensen grew up on a farm outside Waverly. When it came time to decide on college, Hawkeye's Ag Business Management program just made sense. Taking classes at Hawkeye allowed Jon to continue to work on the family farm, where he was able to put into practice what he was learning on campus and at Hawkeye's Farm Lab. "I'm a hands-on learner," he said. "I like to go out to the farm, do stuff with the equipment or animals, and then be able to talk to someone face-to-face about it."

Fulfilling a Childhood Dream
Taylor Price has wanted to be a police officer since she was nine, but when she found out she was pregnant at age 18, she put college on hold. It wasn't until after her second child was born that Taylor decided it was time to take the leap. She enrolled in Police Science at Hawkeye Community College. At times balancing school, work, and motherhood felt overwhelming, but she found compassion and support from her instructors.
